Hopewell Precision Inc. leased a 3 acre piece of property at 15 Ryan Drive in Hopewell Junction for its sheet metal manufacturing company from 1975 to 1981 from Nicholas Brothers. Nicholas Brothers bought the property in 1972.

October 24, 1979-United States Environmental Protection Agency, USEPA, received a complaint from a resident concerning Hopewell Precision's practices.

November 30, 1979 and March 11, 1980-Sampling done at the Hopewell Precision business on these two dates by the USEPA. Toluene, xylene, trichloroethane and ethyl benzene found in men's room sink.

1981-Hopewell Precision Inc. builds new building next door to Nicholas Brothers building and moves in. Address is 19 Ryan Drive.

December 1983-New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, NYSDEC, sent out 1100 letters to all parties who were potentially responsible for the release of hazardous substances.

1984-EPA hazardous remediation score, HRS score, was 24.9. One study done showing insufficient data.

May 1985-Wehran Engineering installed three on site monitoring wells on Nicholas Brothers property aka the Old Hopewell Precision site. The depths of the wells ranged from 25 to 40 feet.

May 14, 1986-Town of East Fishkill was notified by Wehran Engineers and scientists that the Old Hopewell Precision site, old HP site, has been listed as a potentially hazard waste site.

September 2, 1986-NYSDEC memorandum stated that the phase 2 study on the old HP site was not extensive and recommended a further investigation be done.

December 11, 1986-NYSDEC memorandum stated that the Phase Two Study concluded that Well No. B-3 on site was contaminated with 1,1,1,Trichloroethane. Well B-3=23ug/l.

October 31, 1990-NYDEC speed memo stated that the March 1987 Phase Two Study stated that the only contamination found at Hopewell Precision was heavy metals. Lead=108ppb, Arsenic=66ppb, Chromium=63ppb and Selenium=39ppb. Note: The above results did not exceed MCL standard in 1987 but they were above the MCL in 1990.

January 19, 1993-NYSDEC memo discussed the classification to delist the site.

October 5, 1993-NYSDEC memo discussed all needed paper work and it was attached to delist the site.

January 20, 1994-New York State Department of Health, NYSDOH, sent a letter to the NYSDEC recommending that the site should not be delisted.

April, 1994-NYSDEC letter, DEC Site No. 314052 aka the Hopewell Precision Contamination Site, is deleted from the NYS registry of inactive Hazardous Waste Disposal Sites.
